Straight forward, witty and timeless. #TellItLikeItIs, is a blog for our generation

Dear Gen Y,
There are seasons in life when we feel stuck. Disappointments linger longer than we expect, and the courage to begin again seems just out of reach. Sometimes we remain paused in that place for far too long, quietly carrying the weight of what didn’t work out. To be fair to ourselves, healing takes time. Processing setbacks, grieving missed opportunities, and rebuilding confidence are all necessary parts of the journey. Yet even as we allow ourselves the space to heal, it is equally important that we do not remain completely still. Life, after all, was never designed for stagnation. It was designed for movement.
When we step back and look at the world around us, movement is everywhere. Nature itself is a system of constant motion. The oceans rise and fall with the tides, the wind carries seeds across the earth, and even the smallest atoms that make up life are always in motion. Movement is a fundamental principle of existence. Nothing that thrives remains entirely still. In the same way, progress in our own lives requires some level of movement. It does not always have to be dramatic or fast-paced, but it must exist. Any step forward—no matter how small—is a step toward growth, learning, and eventually success.
Of course, not all seasons allow us to sprint forward. Sometimes healing is slow, courage takes time to rebuild, and our energy returns in small increments. In those moments, baby steps become incredibly powerful. Consider how a child learns to walk. At first there are wobbly attempts, tiny movements, and uncertain steps. The effort seems small, almost insignificant, but the child keeps practicing. Step by step, balance improves. Strength builds. Confidence grows. One day, that same child walks firmly and freely, barely remembering those early days of uncertainty. Life works in much the same way. When we continue moving—even in the smallest ways—we create momentum that carries us forward.
For our generation, especially, it is easy to feel pressure to move quickly, achieve rapidly, and appear constantly successful. But real progress rarely happens in giant leaps. More often, it is the result of consistent, small movements made over time. A single decision to try again. One new idea explored. One small effort today that didn’t exist yesterday.
So, if you find yourself in a season where starting again feels difficult, remember this: movement matters. It does not have to be perfect, impressive, or fast. It only needs to exist. Baby steps, taken consistently, can eventually carry us further than we ever imagined.
And sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is simply begin again—one small step at a time.
